A well-proven combination together with Simplex-Compact ® sterntube seal are simplex white metal bushes for both the aft and fwd sterntube. The standard design bushes mainly used for commercial ships are of GG-20 case iron / lead based white metal. While bushes made of GGG-40 nodular cast iron / tin based white metal are used for vessels subjected to higher stresses such as naval ships or icebreakers.

Simplex sterntube bushes are manufactured according to the rules of respective Class societies with the standard version finish machined internally and rough finish externally. Bushes up to a length of 2,800mm and an outer diameter of 1,200mm are available. All simplex bushes undergo a rigorous quality control and are individually tested using ultrasound techniques prior to shipment.
